The English Rose, Luton
FancyaPint?'s review...
For those unfamiliar with any town, the natural instinct upon arriving at the train station would be to head towards the centre in search of refreshment. If Luton is your destination we would instead suggest a wander behind it, where the English Rose (and indeed the Bricklayers Arms) has much to offer. An ever-changing array of ales is one of its big attractions and numerous awards festoon the walls to highlight the pub's credentials in this department. It also has its own beer festival if a choice of four hand pumps is just not enough. There is a large, recently revamped, garden to the side with several gazebos to keep smokers dry, while inside there is a pool table to keep patrons happy. The pub lays claim to having been a haunt of Swindon born actress Diana Dors, but as yet there are no confirmed reports of any current Hollywood stars dropping in for a pint. If any are reading this, they may be interested to know that food is served Tuesday to Saturday lunchtimes.
