Wheelwright Arms, Luton
This is a pub that tries to fit a lot into a small space, and for the most part does a good job of it. Luton Town pictures provide the backdrop in the one-room bar, with seating running around the outside and a pool table taking centre stage. The staff did well to spot us in a crowd, although perhaps slightly disappointingly, London Pride was the only ale available despite a row of hand pumps. There is even a small garden, which is accessed by walking behind the bar - something we weren't entirely sure we were allowed to do. Perhaps this explains why more people hadn't ventured outside. Predictably this space is also compact, but there is space for several picnic tables.
