The Mayflower, Lymington
FancyaPint?'s review...
When you have a large pub a stone's throw (or should that be a line's throw?) from a large marina on the Solent, you have no choice about the theme - it has to be yachting. But fear not landlubbers, because there's something here for everyone. Sure, if you're wearing deck shoes, a yachting cap and a ruddy complexion, you're going to fit right in, but this pub is a good all-rounder - and you might come here just for the beer and conversation. The beer is pretty decent - with Pedigree and others on the hand pumps - and the other booze on offer is a little more upmarket than other places in the area. We didn't have an opportunity to try the food, but the menu looked OK and, given the standards of service and facilities on offer, we'd be disappointed if it wasn't better than average. There's a lively buzz all day which picks up even more towards the weekend (especially in summer). We'd guess it would be better to avoid the entire area at certain times of the year - when the big yachting events are on, but the for the rest of the time, this is a pretty fine place for a pint.

How to find the The Mayflower pub
It's a short walk from Lymington Town station (Lymington Pier's nearer, but you'll need to swim) and obviously, the more stylish was is to arrive by boat.
