So if you're into walking, breath-taking vistas and great country pubs then you're in for a treat at the Leather's Smithy. An historic pub - it is hard to find and stuck in the middle of nowhere but worth the hunting for all that.
The majority of the daytime custom are older patrons which generally means that food is good quality, consistent and reliable and this proved to be the case when we visited.
A bit old fashioned in places which feels right here but may not be to everyone's taste - this is a pub where things are done one way and one way only - but in the main this seems to be the right way.
Walkers are everywhere and this means the place is lively and busy, so be patient. Ale and general beer selection is OK - nothing really outstanding - and with 4 real ales is more than up to the task of keeping punters happy.
If there was a down side - well it isn't open all day which seems odd given that when the sun shines there are people in the hills and out for a drive...shame.
