Unassuming from the outside, but with hidden depth. No, we're not describing a Fancyapint? reviewer, but Bar Fringe on the edge of the Northern Quarter. It's a place that seems to divide opinion, in part because of the less than enthusiastic service, but for us the experience is mainly positive. From the drinkers perspective a wide choice of ales, Belgian and fruit beers, plus a cornucopia of bottled options certainly makes it a winner. They have also managed to inject plenty of character into the long, thin space, even if the lifelike rats on the walls and ceiling may give some punters the heebie-jeebies. It was the motorbike hanging precariously from the balcony that held our attention, along with the empty bottles dotted around a shelf above us. Throw a decent jukebox and a beer garden into the mix and you're all set for good times.
