The Knott Bar, Manchester
FancyaPint?'s review...
Another Manchester pub with a superb range of ales, both local (including the excellent Marble brewery) and from abroad. Situated under a railway arch this venue is heavy on brick - not a place you want to go if carpets or lush surroundings are your thing - with plenty of natural light from the all-glass frontage. It is not a pub that tries too hard, but just gets on with doing its job well. It serves good, home-cooked food, has bar billiards for additional entertainment, and you may have more chance here of getting a seat than some nearby options. The upstairs terrace is perfect for summer if the rattle of a train passing overhead isn't a concern. Perhaps the one problem is that from this terrace any gentlemen requiring bladder emptying facilities has to go down the stairs, walk through to the other side of the pub and back up another flight. Still, you'll pass the bar on the return journey.
