The Ship Inn is a fairly basic Greene King pub, situated overlooking the pretty River Nene and the few canal boats moored there. Shame there's a road out front as it means drinking is restricted to two small benches; the patio out the back doesn't have quite the same appeal. Inside it's pretty utilitarian, even with some exposed beams with the long bar sat at the back and tables around the edge. It was very quiet on our visit and we wondered how long it could survive like this. Although nothing was ultimately wrong here, its clearly the kind of pub which has essentially gone out of fashion and is now suffering in its current incarnation.

The Ship Inn has had a complete revamp for 2010. It reopened it's doors in April 2010 with a new landlord and a totally new look.

The interior is now modern but still resembling a 'proper pub'. There are guest ales and ciders that change every week.

The beer garden now has decking laid and has tables. The benches that were out the front now live out the back. The beer garden also has an umbrella for those rainy days.

From the station, exit right down Station Road. The road eventually bends to the right and at the lights take the first left onto the main shopping street. The pub is down on the left, before the river.
