The Coast Inn, Mersea Island
FancyaPint?'s review...
A fairly traditional hotel set just off one of the more popular - and occasionally busy - parts of Mersea island, a stone's throw away from the marina and seafood eateries. It's a good spot for passing travellers to refresh themselves - there's a decent garden where you can enjoy a sniff of the sea, or at least estuarine, air. There were three ales on tap, including a choice from the Mersea's only brewery, so it was a surprising shame that it wasn't in the best condition we've ever had. Meanwhile the mediocre rating can be attributed to the fact that on our Sunday visit it has essentially turned into a restaurant - no-one was here just for a drink, leaving us plain imbibers outside in the cold, literally and metaphorically.
