The King's Head is handsome, olde worlde, half-timbered pile - exactly the sort of place that tourists mean when they talk about British pubs - and the interior lives up to the promise of the exterior. Well, North Weald is a bit off the beaten track for most tourists, but that seems to suit the locals who flock here at the weekends for Sunday Lunch. Most of the pub is given over to eating at these times. So, if you were looking for a quiet spot for a pint and the crossword, you'll be out of luck - the kids will put paid to any notion of quietude. Nevertheless, the beer's good and the service prompt and friendly. It's a decent enough place, especially if you're out with the family, and that, for many people, is exactly what they're looking for.
