With a picturesque location between the local river and Norwich cathedral there was a danger that the Red Lion could have jumped head first into the dreaded tacky tourist pit. Thankfully, this has been smartly avoided, with any visitor greeted by a traditional boozer that, while earthy and somewhat bare, is still comfortable and welcoming. At its best during the summer months when the outside tables become an ideal perching place near the river, the Red Lion also serves an outstanding Sunday lunch that is cheap but comes with portions that are measured by the bucket rather than the plate. Certainly a must if you need weekend food in Norwich, especially as the reasonable drink selection provides good support.
