The Bell, Norwich
FancyaPint?'s review...
A very large and very average pub that has attained a level of popularity that far outweighs its obvious attributes. True, the Bell is centrally located, fairly well kept and like all Wetherspoons, churns out cheap brews for the surging masses who can always find seats thanks to a plethora of nooks and crannies in the two floor interior. But everything about the light wooden interior has the foul stench of the gastropub handbook, right down to the annoying oldie touches like the out of place war pictures that jar with the mass produced symbols of chain pub land such as the huge number of scattered plastic menus and brand adverts. The Bell has also gathered a reputation for being a focal point for aggro thanks to its status as a cheap pre-club drinking stop for the city's student/younger populous. This is over stated in our view as trouble is rare and light, but nevertheless this is you're a-typical city centre chain pub.
