The Grange Farm, is a large, popular pub located in the town of Oadby, on the outskirts of Leicester. Run by Vintage Inns, one of the many brands controlled by Mitchells and Butler, the web site promises "a collection of pubs of distinction". While in the case of the Grange this is, at best, an exaggeration, it's nonetheless a perfectly nice place to enjoy a pint. Unsurprisingly, the building is an old farmhouse of some sort, while the interior - recently refurbished - is decked out in a contemporary, subtle mishmash of styles, not dissimilar to numerous public houses striving to be a little bit upmarket; it's somewhere you could bring older relatives for something to eat. Speaking for food, it was reasonably priced and well made, but we found it odd when the waitress arrived with a condiment-festooned tray. The idea is to scoop your allotted rations, before it gets whisked away again, presumably to prevent ketchup abuse. As it sits perched on the end of the table, waiting for quick decisions to be made, the pressure is immense; mayonnaise was overlooked in the quiet panic. Although nearby alternatives aren't that fantastic, this is still a good pub which serves the local populace very well.
