The Cock inn has a lot going for it - a pretty old building in the tiny village of Peatling Magna, its one of those cosy two room pubs last properly redecorated in the 1970s. Sadly, the beer selection seems to come from the 70s, too. John Smiths and Courage were the two brands which stuck in our minds, but the third we tried tasted like Watney Red Barrel - badly kept and bland. Cider and lager choices also came from the predicable end of the spectrum. Still, service was cheerful and the regulars around the bar seemed harmless enough. Like many country pubs they focus on food, which was proving popular on our Sunday afternoon visit. Overall, we're awarding a two pint rating as it's not worth making a detour for (for coming here would entail a detour) and because of the beer. Still, it is a pleasant enough country pub.
