The Mad Cat, Pidley
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Mad Cat is a great name for a pretty good pub. You can see why it has won CAMRA Huntingdon Branch pub of the year 2009, as the trio of well kept and interesting ales testified. Stuck on a busy T-junction between Chatteris and Huntingdon this long and low pub was clearly old but looked like it could do with a little bit of TLC from the outside. Inside, one of the two bars has been converted into a restaurant, which is, we suppose, understandable. As such, we chose to sit in the small, traditional bar instead and on our midweek afternoon visit we found a small handful of friendly locals present and faultless service from the landlord. There is an impressive and well kept back garden for sunnier days and a real fire for when it gets chilly. Certainly worth stopping by if you're passing.
