Dinkum is a down to earth community pub with a lovely friendly atmosphere in the middle of the High Street, a few yards from Polegate station. About a century ago it was known as The Polegate Inn and was much frequented during the First World War by wounded ANZAC soldiers while convalescing at a nearby hospital. It was these Australians who declared the pub "fair dinkum".
