The Tongadale Hotel, Portree
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Tongadale Hotel is situated in the middle of a solid-looking terrace, in a street just off the main square in Portree. Although it is a hotel, the pub/bar is primarily a locals' hang-out, a place where everyone seems to know everyone else. Although it must be said they're not unfriendly to tourists. There are no real ales on the bar, but there's a decent pint of 80/- on tap and a typical range of beers, lagers, cider etc. There's a large TV for the sport - which is pretty popular. It's a bit less full-on at the weekends, than some of the other pubs and bars in Portree and, as a result, we often found ourselves in here towards the end of the evening, during our stay on Skye. The Tongadale Hotel is a decent, ordinary pub and does the job well. It's a shame there's no real ale, but then that's not everyone's cup of tea now, is it?
