The Queens Head is like too many country pubs nowadays - it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. From the outside, it's a picture perfect pub, sat in the middle of the attractive village of Saddington. Inside however, you'll find one of those compromises which is really a fudge. At the front is the tiny pub bit, while at the back it opens into a large dining area - the profitable bit of the enterprise. We understand this; margins on food are higher and you have to become a destination venue in such a remote location. That said then, if you're going to devote so much of a pub to food, it should at least be nice. Sure, the portions were massive, but "Roast Turkey" should never, ever look and taste like processed turkey roll. This mass produced, catering standard mediocrity was being served on one unsuspecting family after another. The guest ale we tried was also pretty much undrinkable. The massive garden offered impressive views, but when everything else was substandard, it didn't matter. The Queens Head is the worst of both worlds - a pseudo restaurant without the quality, capturing neither the essence of a pub, nor the occasion of a restaurant.
