Sculthorpe Mill, Sculthorpe
FancyaPint?'s review...
Housed in a disused water mill on the River Wensum, the setting is glorious; on a sunny day enjoying a quiet pint on the banks of the river where the water rejoins its natural course, it's hard to imagine a more idyllic spot to lose a few contented hours. After having our hopes raised by all this, however, the interior left us feeling rather deflated. Such a wonderful building deserves more than a Lloyds Bar make over and it pained us to imagine what fixtures and fittings may have been removed to make way for these identikit tables and the subsequent staid atmosphere all this encourages. The beer is good (Norfolk brews available) and the menu broad, leaving us scratching our heads and needing the help of the bar staff choose. The food was reasonable, with the exception of the ever delicious dressed Cromer crab caught just around the coast which was superb. A pub that could so easily have been a cracking five-pinter sadly therefore only merits a three.
