Porter Brook, Sheffield
FancyaPint?'s review...
A local pub with a bit of something for everybody, the Porter Brook, is rightly, very popular pub. The drink is decent - Greene King ales with Cask Marque accreditation, and a good range of wines and spirits, there's plenty of food (featuring burgers) and there's always something going on - Quizgo (unfortunately not our favourite sort of quiz), jam sessions etc, etc. Add to this ensemble a late licence and it's clear why this place is popular. A little too popular for us at term-time, when an influx of students swells the already close-to-capacity crowd. It's not a place for a contemplative pint, but then that's not its raison-d'ĂȘtre. On the other hand, if you're after fun-packed night with a crowd of friends, the Porter Brook might just fit the bill.
