Fulwood Road is a little paradise for fans of real ale, the excellent Rising Sun is a little way up the road, as are a number of other real-ale pubs - if you're heading up the road from town a stop here is well worth making. There are five Cask Marque ales on the hand pumps and the pub was the well-deserved recipient of a local CAMRA best pub award in 2006. It's a well-run pub, the service is friendly, polite and efficient, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly, the decor understated, the place is spotlessly clean, we know a few pub managers who could learn a thing or two here. There are no electronic distractions here, the Ranmoor Inn is a rare, old-fashioned (and we mean this in the nicest possible way) sort of pub, the kind of place you go to enjoy a good ale or two and friendly conversation - a respite from the hurly-burly of 21st century living.
