My family christmas was ruined today thanks to the Anchor Inn. The service was abysmal and the main meal was inedible. Our table was booked for 2pm and we finally got seated at 230pm after being told we would have to wait 15 mins which we thought was fair enough. However when we were told our table was ready it was not we were left standing in the restaurant for about 5 minutes. When we eventually were shown our table it was not laid and it was not clean. The table was not even big enough to cater for the number we had in our party. Eventually after asking and having to re ask quite a few times we were given highchairs that we requested at the time of booking our table. A table near to us gave us some crackers as we were ignored for about 20 minutes or so. Our starter came out and we had to ask for cutlery. Then it took till 350pm for our main meal to come out. This is nearly 2 hours later from when we were originally booked in. We had young children with us who were very hungary. The children we had with us are not fussy eaters and eat anything. The main meal was cold and not a pleasure to eat. The children even struggled to eat anything. We hung on for the desserts as we really wanted the children to eat. The dessert came and out. The ice cream was a success!!! Shame the same cannot be said for the christmas pudding and the slice of trifle!! The chocolate mousse was nice. How sad that the only good thing about the whole experience is a complement to two desserts. When we were served our drinks at the table the waitress kept tripping over the highchair and on her final trip she said oh bl**dy h*ll! No apology or anything given. The other table were even shocked. There were children around. We did not stay around for the mince pies and coffee because by then we had restless children and we were fed up waiting around for something else to be disappointed by.
Thankyou for making our christmas meal a memorable one......for all the wrong reasons.
