The White Lion, located in the pub-heavy Sopwell Lane area is one of those classic, timeless boozers that you can just visit again and again. With two bars and various small rooms decked with wooden beams it hasn't been messed around with over the years and still has the feel of a classic pub. Add to this some pretty fine food and a great selection of ales and its easy to see why this pub is an award winner. That said, we're sad that since our last visit the Watney Red Barrel which actually served Carlsberg has vanished. Anyway, the outside seating area is also rather pretty and quite like being in someone's back garden, with the added bonus that the exit behind leads straight to another pub, the Garibaldi. Perfect for a crawl, but don't be surprised if you end up spending longer in here than you intended.
