The Sussex Arms, Tunbridge Wells
FancyaPint?'s review...
These days, the Sussex Arms is a much more relaxed affair, no longer the tense, almost no-go area it was in the past. The ground floor bar is a bright, cheerful, airy place, with a large canopied area just outside - perfect for smokers in winter and inclement summer evenings for the rest of us. Downstairs is a cooler, moodier bar, for those who may be looking for a bar rather than pub type of experience and for the pub traditionalists there's bar billiards and an upright piano upstairs. The drink and food are decent, but nothing out of the ordinary and the service prompt and friendly. Despite the Pantiles address, it's not quite on the main drag and as a result may be a better bet if you're looking for somewhere not too crowded at the weekend.
