The Bell Inn, Wendens Ambo
FancyaPint?'s review...
Wendens Ambo is a fantastically named small village in commuter-land near Saffron Walden, and home to the Bell Inn. This 16th century coaching inn retains a raft of original features, including some low beams which would cause problems for any local basketball players. A group of locals were sat around the bar on our visit, enjoying a selection of ales including Woodforde's Wherry and Adnams. We also gave the food (available Tuesday-Sunday) a try, including one of the biggest burgers known to man, and were not disappointed. We're informed that once upon a time it had crazy golf in the extensive back garden, which spreads over 3.5 acres leading down to the River Uttle. You can still enjoy a patio area, adventure playground and woodland walk, while the space is utilised during the August bank holiday for The Bell Bash' beer and music festival. Despite its rural location, Audley End station is only 10 minutes away and the M11 runs close by.

How to find the The Bell Inn pub
Probably easiest to let the sat-nav take the strain here, but its on the B1039, near to the intersection with Duck Street.
