A pub that still has a Dickensian feel about it - probably by virtue of its being old and quaint. It's clean with oak beams and is divided into three small areas. There were three different cask ales on when we were in last, but where it shines is the food - it has an excellent menu, with the house speciality being home-made pies. There is the printed menu and specials board on displays, providing exceptionally good value. And it shows - the pub can get crowded as it's popular, so our advice is not to get there too late. The service is fairly formal but quick. Overall, it may be more a place to eat rather than just go for a drink. Customers in the main tend to range from the over 30s to quite mature. And another warning it's not really a jeans and T-shirt place - at least smart casual is a good idea.

Nearest station is Clandon, take the exits for the Street and turn left. The pub is ahead on the left, but it's about a 10-15 minute walk. There is also a small car park for customers use.
