The Black Prince is an historic old pub with a modernised interior, in a rather nice riverside setting. It's located in Old Woodstock which has had a long-standing rivalry with Woodstock (famous for its association with Blenheim Palace), just up the hill. The pub itself is a pleasant old building running alongside the river Glyme, with a terrace on the river, where you can sit and enjoy four well-kept, ever-changing real ales, cider, lager, wines etc. Service is pretty good - friendly, polite and prompt - and the food, whilst not exceptional, is fresh, well-cooked and good value for money. As the Black Prince is not in Woodstock, you stand a much better chance of avoiding the tourist hordes, than you do in some of the other pubs in town. So, if you're out and about touring the Cotswolds, the Black Prince is well worth stopping off for a drop of decent ale and a good Sunday roast.
