The York Arms is one of the many Sam Smith's pub scattered around York town centre. This one is situated on High Petergate, along with another 3 or 4 pubs, and is virtually in the shadow of York Minster. Anyone familiar with Sam Smith's pubs will know more of less what to expect here, which includes a selection of own brand beers, ciders and stouts at very reasonable prices. The decor is traditional and at the front is a small separate bar; if you're claustrophobic, the larger back bar might be more to your liking. Despite the location this one has a more local feel to it and seems more male dominated than other nearby places. This one hovers between a two and a three pint rating, as the strength of competition means it's perhaps less of a drinking destination than it would otherwise be.
