Houses of Parliament
The Houses of Parliament are the political centre of British governence. Also known as the Palace of Westminster, the Houses contain 1,100 rooms, the most famous of which are the House of Commons, the House of Lords and Westminster Hall. Almost totally destroyed by a devastating fire in 1834, the building was redeveloped and the existing building dates back to 1870.
