picture of Hope and AnchorOh, Islington. Look at you, with your come-to-bed eyes, your fancydan football team and your swathes of young things looking for a good time. And we know what you're up to with Hope & Anchor. Get some bands in, market them to the kids, and then sell them that strange Brazilian bottled lager that's so in vogue these days. And by and large, it works. The Hope & Anchor attracts the crowd not catered to in the numerous Pitcher & Piano/All Bar One/The Garden type bars further up the road towards Angel. It proffers music in a tiny basement, and the imbibing of liquids while sweating to said tunes. Upstairs, there's a cracking jukebox and it's all very cool and skinny jeans-esque, apart from the local old geezer who sits and people-watches all night. It's (still) a music pub, it's a bit sticky and it sells beer. Nuff said.
