Formerly as dependable as Jeeves in terms of Kilburn drinking, the North London Tavern has reopened under new management. The Irish flavour is gone, replaced by a more cosmopolitan air. The facelift keeps the pub's nice original features (ceiling, pillars, stained glass canopy) but replaces the furniture with new tables and lots of comfy chairs. The atmosphere has changed too, with jazz and Nancy Sinatra hits playing whilst you gaze at the gastro menu (typically £5 for snacks, £10 for mains) and sup your choice of Belgian draught beer. It is an agreeable place for a drink, clearly aiming to draw in younger locals who didn't fancy its previous incarnation. Devotees of the auld tavern will mourn its passing but should give the new model a chance. It is one of the better places to meet up the area.
