Greenwich: turn left out of the station, cross over the road and walk along for a minute before turning right into Royal Hill. Walk up here for a few minutes and you will find the pub on the right, next to Richard I. Cutty Sark, turn right out of the exit and walk up to Creek Road (by the Wetherspoon pub). Cross Creek Road, turn left and follow the road round, up the hill, past the church and round past the hotel. Cross Greenwich High Road and walk a short distance (past the market, if it's on) until you get to Royal Hill - you'll see the clock tower of the Borough Hall on it. Walk up the hill and follow the road round until you get to the pub.

As long as we've known it - and it's been a long time - this place has been a great pub. The Richard I is everything a good local should be. Of course, it does excellent Young's beer, the service is polite, friendly and prompt and the food comes recommended. As it is a popular place, seats inside can often be hard to come by, but on warmer days, the large beer garden draws the punters outside, consequently leaving a little more space within (though the place is never empty) should you need to rest your feet. The regulars come in all shapes and sizes and are a friendly lot. It's just up the hill enough to deter all but the most determined of Greenwich tourists, but when they get there, they'll find their efforts are rewarded. There are plenty of pubs in this little area of Greenwich, but this one's still amongst the pick of them for us.

Traditional pub atmosphere although not so sure it merits a '4 Pint' grading. Toilets could do with a refurb and I've certainly had a better pint of Youngs in other establishments.
