Borough: leave the tube, walk up the High Street towards London bridge, you'll see the pub pretty soon on your right. London Bridge: leave the station and walk down Borough High Street (away from the river). carry on for a short while and you'll see the pub on your left.

A long, narrow Victorian pub which up until a few years ago catered to a young, often bohemian, clientele. It was always good fun in here, not much in the way of real ale but a decent enough place for a pint, without any pretence or snobbery. After that, it became noticeably less "alternative" and went for the young Friday and Saturday night crowd, with DJs until 2:00am. This remains, but the pub has now attempted to re-invent itself in a gastro style. For "re-invent", read: "transformation" of rear drinking area (which was always good for live sport and a good chinwag) into a set dining area, which you can't enter if only drinking, despite it being empty on our Friday evening visit. Also read: £4.20 (!) for a pint of Kronenbourg. Given that you can get a pint of Amstel for not much more than £3 at several other more atmospheric and traditional places nearby, we suggest you steer clear of this place unless you like paying through the nose for not much.
