how to find it:

From Tottenham Court Road, Dean Street is west along Oxford Street, then 2nd Left. From Oxford Circus, go east towards Centre Point and take the 8th right. It's about two thirds of the way down Dean Street.

Brim full of wannabe media luvvies (the real movers and shakers are already in Soho House), helpers and hangers-on, it's a clamorous place that doesn't excite us. And the sign that proclaims "in the heart of Soho" makes us chuckle - if you need to be informed of that fact, then you're definitely in the wrong place. There's beer on hand pumps and a pretty standard bill of fayre catering for other tastes. It's not a bad pub, it's the clientele that does it for us. The main reason we come here is it's easy for people to find if they don't know their way around these parts - "just look for the pub in the heart of Soho".

Perhaps it's because I can be a bit of a local media luvvie, but I don't mind the Crown. Lots of good lagers on tap (Peroni, Star, Amstel), usually nice service and the upstairs setting is very pleasing on the eye and a nice place to disappear to. One star's very harsh, in my humble opinion!
