A pub which sports a sign for toasties in its window is always going to attract our attention, and we're glad to report that the Alma didn't disappoint. When Fancyapint? first reviewed this one, we found it rather empty; but our recent Saturday afternoon visit found arguably the busiest pub in the area. It feels like its changed hands in the process and it was certainly attracting a fair cross-section of locals when we stopped by. Nevertheless, it's a fairly straightforward pub: a pool table down one side, a screen on the other and a bar down the middle. One interesting nod to attracting a different crowd though: the covered area outside the pub hosts a Market Garden every Saturday and Sunday (it must be thirsty work buying those plants...).
