This was one of the first pubs in the area to be reshaped into a bar, so it's not really that much of a surprise that when it changed from Bluebottle to Westow House the bar stylings and attitude were retained. It's now part of the same stable of bars as such idiosyncratic venues as the Tooting Tram and Social and the Balham Bowls Club, and the furnishings here are equally as bold, including as large a selection of secondhand books as we've ever seen on a pub's shelves. The library-like air seemed to permeate the rest of the pub on our visit, with the sound turned down on the sport on the screen and the punters speaking in hushed tones. The seats outside seemed a more popular spot, though given the constant stream of traffic held up at the crossroads outside we did wonder why.
