The Little Driver has always been a pub for the locals in these parts and over the years it's served their needs pretty well. But things move on, the desires of the locals of yore are not the same as those of the apartment-dwelling locals of today and so the Little Driver has been updated to satisfy modern appetites. A lick of paint has cheered up the decor, both outside and in (it's no longer painted in the rather bright, but cheerless blue that once characterised it), and thankfully, its Victorian character remains unmolested. The interior has been opened up to create a lighter, airier ambience and the beer garden has been transformed - you wouldn't believe you were on dreary old Bow Road. The drink is not much different from the older incarnation, there are a couple of hand pumps for real ale (unfortunately both were off on our last visit) although the wine list somewhat improved and the service is cheerful, prompt and helpful. The big change is in the food, there's a much more ambitious menu, which seems reasonably priced. We've yet to try it, but we've heard quite complimentary remarks. All-in-all a sensible update to what has always been, in our opinion, a sensible pub.
