Come out of Southwark tube station, cross the road at the lights, turn right (the Tate Modern is straight ahead) and continue down Blackfriars road going south. Imbibe is about 500 yards down on the right.

Despite it's location around the corner from a fair chunk of flats and Waterloo train station, Imbibe didn't immediately seem to be either a local's or a commuter's pub. Indeed it had the feel of a place more suited to Leicester Square. And that seems to be who its aiming at - office workers who want a more lively night out than is offered by the average SE1 pub. They certainly like to boast about all the exciting things you can do there: cocktails, beer garden, DJs, quiz night, late licence et al. It all smacked a little of desperation, but certainly covered the bases and the back garden is indeed very nice. We presume it gets busier towards the end of the week, as there was plenty of open floor space, with furniture around the edges, including some orange seating which looked like giant deflated Space Hoppers. Overall there's something missing here which holds us back from offering a three pint rating, but for good service and overall effort, Imbibe gets a sturdy two pint rating.
