how to find it:

Leave the tube station and make your way to Fulham Palace Road (the Apollo should be on your right). Walk on down the road for at least 10 mins (passing Charring Cross Hospital on your left), before the turning for Crabtree Lane on your right. Head down there, then right along Rainville Road.

When this became a gastro-conversion a few years ago, we weren't very complimentary about this pub. Well, given the amount of time since we were in last, we were more than pleasantly surprised - we found a pleasant and comfortable pub with decent beer (three pumps, bottled Belgian beer), friendly locals and great staff. Add a superb view of the river and this is practically perfect for that afternoon with a few pints by the water. It was a bit cold the last time we were in, and it would have been nice if the fire was on, but that's a minor complaint. The front bar has a banquette around one side with a smattering of tables around the room and the area at the back - overlooking the river - was set for eating when we were there last, which is something we're not terribly keen on, particularly when it's arguably the best part of the pub when it's too cold for the terrace. The food looked good, about average gastro prices for the current climate and decent portion sizes. We'll have to go back and try it.
