One of the closest real 'locals' pubs to Oxford Street, it's possible to get a decent seat here, even at busy times like Friday tea time. Considering its size and location though, this is quite an achievement. The beer ranges from Directors to Adnams but also proving popular on our visit was the Thai food in the back bar (there's also a takeaway service for locals). Note too, the stand up piano in the front bar: if you're after a sing-a-long of a Sunday evening, then be sure to pop by. This one's also close to Tony Blair's London pad, but whether he'll be found propping up the bar now he's moved on from Downing Street can't be guaranteed. Though there's always the Thai takeaway if Cherie fancies a night off from the cooking.

The Duke of Kendal is now under new management. The whole place has been redecorated, new loos. The Thai food has (thankfully) gone. Real home-cooked pub grub now. June still plays the piano every Sunday evening for the traditional sing-song. http://dukeofkendal.tripod.com/
only one comment, so far on this pub - why not add your own?
