how to find it:

Leave Oxford Circus tube and walk a short distance along Oxford Street towards Centre Point, turn left at the lights up Great Portland Street. Walk north on Great Portland Street until you reach a crossroads. The pub is on the corner, on your left.

Formerly known as the Gluepot, the George was once the favourite watering hole of the BBC Orchestra when Henry Wood was its conductor, and the Queens Hall (now the St. George's Hotel) was still in existence. We have, though, spotted a BBC DJ conducting an interview on a previous visit. Serving Cask Marque ales from the hand pumps, it is a lovely looking pub, but cramped pub, which suffers more than a little from its prominence on Great Portland Street as it is often packed out with thirsty office workers and a younger set meeting up for a night on the town. At quieter times of the day it it's a pleasant enough place for a pint.
