picture of Annies
This must have been one of 2008's most dramatic refits. We've always known it as Auntie Annie's Porter House, a traditional Irish boozer whose yellow and red exterior marked it out as a landmark on Kentish Town Road. Now, the vibrant colours are on the inside, with an interior that even Liberace would dismiss as outré. So, in have come Louis XIV furnishings, grand chandeliers, flock wallpaper and a white baby grand for any passing ivory ticklers. Not your average pub interior then. This one makes great claims about its cocktails, but if you're sticking to drinking pints then it's an average selection that awaits you. We found the bar staff to be excellent, but also noted that even after the design change there's some old regulars still in situ. It wasn't as busy as most places in the vicinity on our last Friday night visit, but could not be described as deserted either. (New picture to come).
