This is an enormous pub. So big in fact, it's got a wine bar in it, or at least attached. The pub caters for all, with a dark-panelled public bar with big TV, a TV-free back bar as well as a restaurant section and the aforementioned wine bar (called 'Smart Alex')- if it was a hair saloon (it's one of the few things it isn't) it'd be called something clever like the 'Cut Above' - but it does offer a pleasant space away from the sport. It's just the spot for a natter or reading the papers. Add the upstairs and mews terraces for an outdoor jar (from the usual Young's compliment of ales) and it all seems to work quite well, with good service and happy (sometimes over-excitable) punters. We've not yet tried it in the evening and we know it can get a bit rowdy when there's a big match on, but overall this pub seems to work either as a meeting point near the station, or as a place you simply don't end up leaving.
