how to find it:
From Angel Tube: turn left out of the station, cross over at the lights and go down St. John St. into Rosebery Avenue. Turn left into Rosoman Street and immediately right into Exmouth Market. It's about 100 yard on the right on the corner with Spafield Street. From Farringdon, walk up Farringdon Road, crossing Clerkenwell Road and keep going until you reach the junction with Rosebery Avenue (opposite Farringdon Fire Station) where you turn right into Exmouth Market. The pub is ahead on your left on the corner about 75 yards down.

Here's a pub that has completely failed to get with the program. There's nowhere to plug in your iPod for a start and you have to leave your skateboard outside. The people playing darts in the back appeared not to be doing so ironically. There was no absinthe behind the bar either. It's stubbornly persisting as a high street boozer. Disgraceful. And a blessed relief. It's not too busy, there are no frills and no gimmicks, except for very good ale (Harvey's Sussex), and the service is prompt and friendly. Most of the punters look like they've been there all day and don't see any compelling reason why they should go home either. For anyone else trying to avoid home it is good to know that the Exmouth stays opens until 1:30 am. A refuge for those who just can't keep up with modern life (which Damon Albarn always told us was rubbish anyway).
