It wasn't necessarily a great surprise that somewhere as down-at-heel as The Lord Burleigh would shut up shop eventually. As a pub out of time and out of place, its future was always in doubt. Anyhow, it's now been refurbished and reopened, unfortunately accompanied by a rather dreadful name change. The exterior is quite a pleasant shad of green and the nice bay window remains, but the inside is somewhat boring; it could be any mid-range chain pub and almost feels like their imagination (or budget) ran out halfway through the refurbishment. Still, the food menu looks reasonable enough and its just far enough away from Victoria Station to usually avoid the excess of afterwork drinkers.

we love the new look of the brass monkey, its so clean!! yes ladies clean loos! the staff are more than friendly and we have had the good luck of meeting the chef and sampling some of his fantastic cuisine. apparently he is well travelled and has studied thai and australasian cooking. We had a great party in here and everyone loved the food. The best Thai curry EVER. An assortment of staff from English, Kiwi, South African and Australian made for a very entertaining night!!! many laughs. well done brass monkey!

This wonderful little boozer has really benefited from a recent facelift and a brand spanking new name. Great food and a nice selection of beers make this the perfect stopover after work for me my mates. Oh, and they do have a website if you want to find out more : www.brass-monkeybar.co.uk .
