One of the earlier examples of the second generation of Wetherspoon pubs, this an above average example of the chain, even it it still only receives a two pint rating. Its helped that the nature of the conversion (from council offices, we believe) benefits from a modern (but not sterile) decor and high ceilings at the back which make the space light and airy. Theres also a respectable mezzanine section. The front is filled with high tables for vertical drinkers and older men who can watch the world go by, while weekend nights aren't to everyone's taste, when door staff are deemed necessary. The same could also be said for the hours after Arsenal home matches, when havoc reigns supreme. On a final positive note, however, the toilets are quite excellent - large clean and modern. Theres more to pubs than their toilets, though, and there are more atmospheric pubs a short distance away.
