Although its attractive exterior still heralds the New Cross Inn, this is now Bar Alchemy. It's one of the smarter pubs in the area and has clearly been refurbished to attract a new crowd: there's modern art on the walls, American diner-style bar stools and bare wooden furniture. Behind the bar is a good selection of spirits for those who want a cocktail, though on the beer front there are just lager and Guinness. This might be a handy place to meet up with friends and is one of the better bets in New Cross.
