picture of Hope and AnchorApparently refitted recently, the Hope & Anchor's new décor represents the modern pub as imagined by B & Q; plain painted walls and a sensible carpet etc. It's not the pub's fault, of course, as there are thousands of place like this all over Britain, but the blandness is just a bit dispiriting. The place comes across like a youth club for middle-aged men, complete with jukebox, pool table, football on TV and beer.
