sorry no picture of this pub
Back in 2007 we reported on this one's change from a sub-Wetherspoon pub to Ivan's Retreat, a bar promising DJs, live music, booze and a late licence. Twelve months on, Ivan's Retreat was relaunched by the people behind the Lock Tavern and the Amersham, promising, er, DJs, live music, booze and a late licence. The Rest is Noise has certainly lived up to its word, though- given the inspiration behind the name - this one doesn't have the sounds of Schoenberg and Stravinsky booming out of its soundsystem, offering like its sister pubs' dj sets and some live spots from up-and-coming bands. The eye-catching installations in the bar's front windows are in keeping with their art-school aesthetic of the place, but the punters on our (albeit daytime) visit included a few old timers seemingly left over from its days as The Goose. Fairly standard drink selection behind the bar and a de rigueur interior of mix-and-match furnishings to lounge upon. Certainly worth a look when you're in SW9 - being so close to the Brixton Academy ain't a bad spot to attract some passing trade.
