picture of Queens Head and Artichoke
Nestled behind the back of the Royal College of Physicians, this place is reasonably handy for the Indian food nirvana of Drummond Street. The wood paneled bar gets pretty packed with local workers and some locals during lunchtime and in the evenings, with the upstairs restaurant doing a booming business as well. The bar also serves an extensive tapes menu and daily specials, though we wouldn't necessarily classify them as cheap. There's some good ales on the pumps which are well kept. The place looks like a continental caff - albeit one with a large selection of religious icons in a case at one end of the main bar. If you can bag one of the capacious sofas you may well feel tempted to stay a while and hold forth on questions of existence and philosophy.
