Now under the control of the Capital Pub Company, the stone floor, high stools and Venetian blinds still evoke this one's wine bar past. Readily filling up with local office workers, this one does a professional job on the food and drink front, with a lengthy wine list and a remarkable range of beers on hand and gas-powered pumps (including both Budwar and Budweiser - are they catering for all tastes or trying to rekindle a trademark war?). The food is equally diverse: gastro standards certainly play a part, so do toasties at lunchtimes. If you're after a bit more space, plenty of seats outside offer a view of Red Lion Square, while the ever-so punny s'Wine Bar in the basement can be hired out. As suity afterwork haunts go, this isn't bad at all.
